More authors join the NHS Charities Together scheme
I’m delighted to say that two more authors, Sue Knight and John Scotcher, have joined our project, donating 100% of the author royalties on sales of the following books to NHS Charities Together. John’s YA novel is an exciting mystery story designed to engage the teenage reader, and Sue’s thought-provoking and gripping books are recommended for readers of all ages (though they’d be tough going for children).
Here are the publisher’s comments about them, plus links for purchasing the books in e-book format from Amazon.
The Boy in Winter’s Grasp
Blurb
In this young adult fantasy, John Scotcher takes the tale of sorcery and Arthurian legend in an unexpected direction.
It is Christmas 1914. As Europe descends further into the Great War, Christopher Flyte is sent home in disgrace from his school. He returns to the sleepy English village of Alton. There he meets the mysterious traveller, Bailey – a master storyteller who fills the boy’s head with stories of King Arthur’s time. The more Christopher hears, the more he suspects that Bailey’s stories are more than just simple myths. Soon, Christopher finds himself a pawn in a game that has been playing out for centuries….

Waiting for Gordo
Blurb
In this island paradise eco-thriller, Sue Knight develops a unique angle on global tourism that sees terror creep up stealthily against the backdrop of a perfect holiday.
Miranda arrives in an ocean paradise with husband Jim and most of the usual group for their annual dive holiday. Their daughter is grown up and living on the other side of the world. She and Jim have no special ties after a lifetime of travel. As she observes her companions she reflects on how the island is shaped to accommodate the tourist trade that is the region’s life’s blood. This year’s Bathroom Cockroach seems particularly watchful; the low bushes rustle oddly as though they too are watching; and burgers on the breakfast buffet (beef … out here?). She senses something incongruous from the moment she sets foot on the soft white sand.

Till They Dropped
Blurb
This short, poignant and intelligent novelette extrapolates society’s current need for global consumerism and seemingly relentless expansion.
The author Sue Knight has delved deep into the underlying wants and needs of a society determined to have the best of the best at a fraction of the cost, regardless of the long term impact.
This tale is set in the midst of that impact, and it is a chilling indictment of the dangers of runaway capitalism.
