Cruel and Unusual PunNishments

Blurb

Cruel and Unusual Punnishments by Mark P Henderson is a hilarious collection of prose and poetry that gives a laugh out loud insight into the mind of this wonderful, insightful author. Each scintillating morsel is also expertly illustrated by Mossy.

Split into three distinct sections, the author explains each beautifully;

  1. Fables Without Morals – When one of these verses is recited in public the audience expects a carry-home message, and the expectation is always disappointed. The groans are gratifying, though in the interests of health and safety I’ve sometimes positioned myself within easy reach of the exit before performing a Fable Without Moral. You’ll see why.
  2. Tales To Tell – Fifteen vignettes constitute a selection from the extensive repertoire available. Out of consideration for the reader I haven’t included more.
  3. Eight Animal Sonnets – During an evening of convivial relaxation many years ago, one of my companions raised the subject of aardvarks; In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was ‘Aardvark’. Discussion led to considerations of the odd appearance and habits of this South African anteater, and someone remarked that the aardvark could never be a subject for – say – a sonnet. To me, this sounded like a challenge.

We hope you enjoy this wonderful book, perpetrated by Mark P Henderson and illustrated by David ‘Mossy’ Moss.

Blurb

A really weird thing happens to 11 year old Megan Crewe when she bumps into Jack the old carthorse. She’s too busy to worry about it until she realises what a terrible secret she’s uncovered.

Jack is in danger but no one will believe it except her best friend Amy. Their ideas come thick and fast, but nothing works, and as the menace creeps closer, events snowball. There’s a horse in Amy’s mum’s prize greenhouse, a lot of tomato ketchup in places it shouldn’t be, a ton of heavenly chocolate, and the dreadful taste of artificial flowers.

In all the chaos, can they save Jack? Or has the danger that stalked the old horse turned its eye on them instead?

Falling into Crime

Blurb

Falling into Crime is a trilogy comprising the first three Annie Raymond Private Investigator books by Penny Grubb.

The re-edited books chart Annie’s fledging steps into a profession that has been her goal since her earliest memories; taking her through the struggles of her first proper job to her emergence as an experienced investigator who is unexpectedly brought face to face with her motives for pursuing this course in life. A fundamental re-evaluation is long overdue, but the push comes from an unwelcome source that threatens far more than her peace of mind.

The trilogy includes the winner of the 2004 international Crime Writers’ Association Dagger, The Doll Makers, along with John Creasy Dagger nominee, Like False Money, and The Jawbone Gang.
