New novel will be available within weeks

WHAT WOULD HAPPEN TO SOCIETY IF CRIME BECAME IMPOSSIBLE… INCONCEIVABLE?

AND WHAT DIABOLICAL MACHINATIONS COULD MAKE THIS HAPPEN?

IF YOU WANT TO FIND OUT, READ

THE ENGKLIMASTAT

(Engklimastat (noun): that which prevents or stops law-breaking. Gk egklima, law-breaking, + stat)

the forthcoming novel by

MARK P. HENDERSON

WARNING: This book contains strong and politically incorrect language.

Not suitable for persons under 18 or those of a sensitive disposition.

Ambitious junior demon Hypostates is determined to hasten a victorious Armageddon by having all law-breaking in the UK prevented. But can he stop hapless Solomon Threep and charismatic Theresa Greene getting together to thwart his plans?

This 65,000-word fable portrays the effects of the ‘abolition of crime’ on a wide cross-section of current British society (those effects would be much the same in any developed country), and covers the debates in the University of Pandaemonium, a.k.a. Hell, that culminate in this abolition.

The question is: how, if at all, can Solomon, Theresa and others work out what’s happened and do something to reverse it?

Some readers have compared The Engklimastat to novels by Douglas Adams, Terry Pratchett, Stephen Fry and even Evelyn Waugh. This is flattering, but I don’t think it’s like any work by those literary high-achievers. The voice is entirely mine.

Nevertheless, the story does appear to make people laugh!

  • Hello there,

I was just passing by expecting a mention about the floodwaters, but I see another novel is on the horizon. I take my hat off to you and your prolific nature and await the outcome. All the best for this autumn season.

    • Thanks, Yolanda – we’ve escaped the worst of the flooding on this side of the Pennines, though travelling has required extra care. The new novel has had a launch and there have been a couple of gratifying reviews on Amazon.

I can assure you that the system accepted your comment, and it didn’t look like a duplicate to me! 🙂

  • Hiya, I just posted a lovely comment and unfortunately the system said: “Looks like a duplicate”. I’ll keep trying!
